LifePod better than a tent… incuding the kitchen sink
The 21st century will see both man made and natural disasters on an unprecedented scale. Global warming will continue to make the weather unpredictable resulting in mass evacuations from homes and property, people will have to be re-housed for periods lasting from days to months in temporary accommodation.
A LifePod is a compact, architect designed living space that provides all life’s necessities in one small unit. The LifePod has a triangular plan, which allows multiple pods to be grouped in a variety of ways to form Pod streets, Pod villages and Pod communities. Its structural form is inherently strong and robust, and LifePods take up less space than conventional modular buildings.
Inside each LifePod is a bunk bed, shower, toilet, kitchen and power. LifePods use clever design to maximise the internal space whilst providing an environment that is comfortable, safe and secure. The LifePod have been designed to high environmental standards. Each POD is highly insulated to protect from extremes of both heat and cold, and will need only minimal additional heating. LifePods are naturally ventilated and, whenever possible, use the sun’s direct energy to provide hot water and space heating.
The LifePod has been designed to accommodate a small family, providing life’s essentials to enable them to survive and function with dignity.
